Chapter One-Reveal
Sherlock put his violin down and stared intently at the wall in front of him. He could hear John fiddle with papers behind him.
"Are we looking for a case today, Sherlock?" John asked.
Sherlock hesitated, sucking in a deep breath to look at his friend. "If you have something."
Hours later, they poured themselves in a case, and John knew Sherlock was getting frustrated with the whole thing. His face was tight with deep thought and his hands were pressed against the side of his head.
"Hey," the doctor said, abandoning his seat to walk toward Sherlock. "You should probably get some sleep, it's..." John checked his phone. "Two in the morning." he chuckled.
At the sound of John's voice, Sherlock visibly relaxed, his features becoming more calm and his voice softer. "You can. I'm going to stay up."
"Alright." John moved to his bedroom as Sherlock hung onto John's words.
He solved the case while John slept.
John and Sherlock's relationship was evolving, Sherlock could see. They grew closer, but he could see the nervousness John had begun to develop whenever he was alone with Sherlock. The detective didn't know how he should feel about this, but even he was aware of the small pit growing in his stomach, getting bigger every time John avoided him.
"Is something bothering you?" Sherlock managed to spit out one day when John was typing for that blog of his.
"What do you mean?" John said, tense.
"You avoiding me, and being so tense all the time, like now."
"No I'm not." he replied too quickly, and closed his eyes in defeat. "Okay, I'm tense, but it's nothing you need to worry about."
Sherlock's eyes narrowed. "Come here."
"What?" John's eyes grew.
"Are you deaf? Come here."
The pit grew again as John hesitated. Finally, he walked to where Sherlock was sitting.
"Please sit down."
He did.
"What's bothering you?" Sherlock tried again, his voice more firm than the first time.
John laughed softly. "Are you that blind?"
Sherlock blinked.
"You."
